Featured on Flowerona Blog

We are delighted to be featured on Flowerona blog, our favorite floral blog. Flowerona is created by Rona Weeldon to celebrate all things flower related. The UK blog covers everything flower-related including florists, artists, designers, homeware, floristry books, exhibitions, fashion, gardening, flower markets, interior design, photographers and stationery.

This is what we say in the interview: "We love to use flowers in different stages of their life: blossoms and flowers in their splendour, but also dried or dead flowers. We believe that this is the correct way to interpret life. It comprises the bloom of youth but also the wisdom of old age. Every stage of life has its own charm and beauty and we try to underline that in our floral works". Read the entire interview with DUEALBERI here.

We are also happy to take part of the wedding directory Weddingdayweardir. You will find our prints announcement in the stationary directory.

Red Roses and Artists Dates

Tuesday is the Flower market day! The market is a place of inspiration, the place for the weekly "artist date". The "artist date" is a meeting with your inner artist, with your inner child. It is the time dedicated to you solely, the time that you need in order to recharge your creative batteries.

This is what we usually do during our "artist dates":
- go for a walk in the park
- visit the flower market
- visit a museum or an exhibition
- visit an artist's supply shop
- visit a fabric store
- go to a book store
- planting and gardening
- go to the Botanical garden
- get in contact with nature
- go for a bike ride
- do Tai Chi
- do painting
- watch a movie
- go shopping
- go to a garden or DIY store
- go to the flee market

As Julia Cameron says, "playing is absolutely necessary".

How do you play? How do you meet your inner child? Where do you go? Make a list of ten artist dates. Make it today! Make it before Christmas!

Featured Artist: The UK Artist and Illustrator Caitlihne: "Everyone and Everything on The Planet Is Here for a Reason"

Today's post features the British artist Caitlihne. She is a UK artist and illustrator. Her media include pen and ink, watercolour, digital and printmaking. She enjoy using her designs to create handmade cards and prints. She is inspired by many things amongst which are nature, birds, trees, myths, folklore and fabulous colours.

Here is the interview with her.

Tell us the five most important things about yourself.

I am a qualified nurse and midwife although I no longer practice.I am a certified treeaholic. I absolutely love trees, particularly old and gnarly ones with a history. My brother and I spent years tracing our family history and have discovered wonderful relations we didn't know we had. The earliest we have gone back is 1645 to Swaledale in Yorkshire. I am quite psychic and have had lots of strange experiences over the years. I am not religious but I am spiritual and believe every one and everything on the planet is here for a reason. I am particularly devoted to animals and birds but I don't even stand on ants because they too have their part to play, however tiny.

What inspires you?
Practically everything but if I have to narrow it down a bit I would say, nature, animals, birds - wild and domesticated, mythology of all countries, not just England, and my beloved trees of course. I am very inspired by the huge wealth of artwork to be found on the internet and blogs particularly. I also own a huge collection of art and craft books and magazines which I browse through when I am looking for inspiration for new work.

Your favorite subject to paint or draw?
My favourite subject for drawing is probably women with birds in the picture somewhere. They are usually to be found on shoulders or heads. I like drawing clothing detail and hair too. In fact, the more detail the better. I am not a minimalist. I like to be quirky and a bit weird sometimes.

What you are working on?

I have ventured into the realms of commissioned art recently and also have licenced my art for greetings cards etc. My greatest love is drawing with very fine pens and watercolour and I am working more on originals now rather than the digitally coloured prints I have produced in the past. I am also getting my etching press out of mothballs after Christmas and will be doing some drypoint printmaking which I love.

See Caitlihne's artwork in her etsy shop.

There Is Always Something To Be Thankful For

We are thankful for what we are. For the great opportunity to create. To be able to discover ourselves and to understand "who is in". We are grateful for our health, our meal and our shelter, for the beauty of every single mysterious day, so different from the previous one. We are grateful for having found each other. For the opportunity to create together, combining our skills and energy, the feminine one and the male one.  For the possibility to see things, discover things, enjoy things.

It happens often that after a shooting we are happy of the results and the flower or plant remains in our souls for days or weeks. This is maybe what Deepak Chopra means when when he says to "identify yourself with the rose", when you and the rose become one thing. Usually we also start to draw or paint the same flower or plant that we have photographed.

Here are some shrubs, first photographed, then painted with ink and watercolor. Find more in our Botanical Art Prints shop

Botanical Watercolor Preview

Tuesday in our lab! We are working on the latest botanical watercolors that will soon be listed in our Floral Art shop. We used the technique of watercolor and ink, with our favorite colors such as indigo, yellow, bright red, scarlet. We have always had a passion for primary colors, red, blue and yellow. They remind us of Calder and in our opinion can express with simplicity different moods and feelings. Red is the color that makes you stand with your feet on the ground, blue develops your imagination, yellow energizes. Here are some of our pictures, enjoy. Don't forget to check out our Botanical Art Prints store, the originals will be available in a few days.

We adore the color combination between yellow and indigo. Soon in our store...

Favorite Artist: Francesca Lancisi

Francesca Lancisi lives and creates in Florence, Italy. She says she is fascinated by colours and the infinite variations and emotional correspondences they generate. She loves simple, archetipical shapes. In this series of works she used ink together with watercolour, and created abstract patterns. The Maps can evoke the marks left by the movement of natural elements, like the flight of birds, the swing of leaves, the falling of rain, the blowing of the wind, the flowing of rivers.

We noticed Francesca’s shop on etsy immediately. We were attracted by the decisive architectural lines of her works, by the force of her ink, by the shapes and colors that speak of streams and rivers, of obvious and hidden truth. Her paintings carry an incredible force: the simplicity and mystery of life, in their authenticity and richness of expression, in their flowing energy and playfulness that touch the viewer’s heart immediately. Her watercolors speak of a person who dares, and is not afraid to experiment.

Sunday Thoughts

Health is the greatest possession. Contentment is the greatest treasure. Confidence is the greatest friend. Non-being is the greatest joy. These are words of the great mystic Lao Tzu that he wrote a thousand years ago. These days we realized that there is nothing more precious than health. It seems obvious and simple, but so many times we forget that and take it for granted. Only when you are healthy you can really create and be inspired. Only in that way you can keep the energy high and be connected with your creativity. Life is the greatest gift and we have to live it in the happiest way possible.

Some pictures from the Roman countryside. It is so beautiful in the late summer. Yellow and glittering. Find more photo prints in our shop . We have updated it with more print sets
